Karinya
Counselling Centers acknowledge the importance of protecting your personal
information and recognize the trust you place in us when you provide it.
Accordingly, Karinya will only use your information for the reasons specified on
each form and below.
The
Privacy Act 1988 and The Freedom of Information Act 1982, give all individuals
the following rights and Karinya Counselling Centres will conduct itself
accordingly.
Terminology
In
this Privacy Statement, the expressions “we”, “us” or “our” are a
reference to Karinya Counselling Centre. The expression “personal
information” is used with reference to information or an opinion about an
individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained from the
information or opinion.
Karinya
will only collect information to the extent that it is necessary for one or more
of the following activities:
For
donors and sponsors, Karinya is required to provide information to the
Australian Taxation Office. This information is required and further
protected by the Taxation Administration Act 1953; The Income Tax Assessment
Act 1936 and The Income Tax Assessment Act 1997; the Fringe Benefits Tax
Assessment Act 1986 and the Privacy act 1988.
Karinya
employees, while processing receipts for donations, may access your personal
information in order to provide the appropriate tax receipt for you.
Information
may also be shown to our accountant or solicitors who may need to act on our
behalf in the execution of Karinya’s administration and other business,
without limitation. These parties are also bound by the Privacy Act 1988.
The
types of personal information which we may collect and hold for our activities
include, without limitation, an individual’s name, address, email address,
phone number, mobile phone number, date of birth, business name; address, phone
numbers, ABN numbers, any bank account details supplied for direct debit, EFTPOS
deductions etc. We may collect personal information from you in a variety of
ways including, without limitation, on forms, questionnaires, over the phone,
via email, on contracts, in correspondence or in person.
Information
Use and Disclosure
Karinya
will not use or disclose personal information that we collect for any
secondary purpose other than the primary purpose of collection without you
consent unless:
The
secondary purpose is related to the primary purpose (directly related if
sensitive information) and you would reasonably expect us to use or disclose
the information for that secondary purpose.
In
compiling statistical data for the use in direct marketing, complying with
the requirements of the Privacy Act.
The
use or disclosure is otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act.
In
recognizing our donor’s contribution to Karinya’s “Crisis Care Fund”,
the “Partners For Life” bequest program. Karinya will acknowledge your
contribution on our website, unless otherwise informed by you.
Website
and Internet Security
Karinya
respects your right to privacy and will not attempt to identify visitors or
their browsing activity. Our hosting logs are available for inspection by law
enforcement agencies or other government departments exercising legal authority.
Karinya
does not collect any personal information from visitors to our website. We do
not use "cookies" or other technology to track visits. In the future
we reserve the right to log the following for statistical purpose:
The
number of page hits.
The
number of unique sessions as identified by server address and top-level
domain name (e.g. com, Govt, org, etc.)
The
pages accessed or downloaded by session.
The
type of browser being used.
Data

Karinya
will take reasonable steps to protect the personal information that we hold,
from misuse or loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.
